We are excited to partner with educators from the community to provide better opportunities for our children.
Located in the Bethlehem Community, we are a non-profit community based organization providing adult education and services for family, children, senior adults, and at-risk people in Augusta, Georgia. Our history began in 1911 when a Deaconess from Alabama was appointed by the Women's Missionary Council of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South to begin a social settlement for black people in the Augusta area. This was the first ever of its kind that was promoted by the council. Augusta was selected because the Methodist church had established Paine College to which the missionary council was already contributing funds. The doors opened for service in 1912. New Bethlehem opened in 2004 with that same passion and mission as the original Bethlehem Community Center.
